Twelve Gifts of Christmas 2023 #3

Greetings, dear Internet~Land! I hope your December is beginning well. This post has Gift #3 ~ a lovely Waterfall Gown Pattern Set that includes the gown with a waterfall style overlay on the skirt, a waterfall style cape, and optional fairy wings. Because the pattern pieces are too large to fit onto 8.5×11 inch paper, the pattern has pictures showing how to assemble all the pieces before you begin cutting fabrics. I think when I make my own version of this set, I’ll also make a beaded head piece. I’ve made fairy wings before by tracing and coloring the wing design onto clear acetate. Because SD BJDs can come in a variety of shapes and sizes, these wings are made of four pieces per set. To attach the wings together, I will use some white wire twisty-ties. Then I’ll feed the arms through attached clear rubber bands and loop the bands around the fronts of the shoulders. The cape can be sewn with a solid back, or you can sew it with a slitted center back so it can fall to either side of the wings. Enjoy & Happy Sewing!

Twelve Gifts of Christmas 2023 #2

Hello, hello! And now to make sure all your MSD (1/4 size) BJD fellas don’t feel left out, we have the Armadillo Jeans Pattern Set reduced from the SD size to 70% for the smaller guys. I think will work for the average 43-45cm dolls. You can use the facing/anchor pieces to get an idea of the waist and inseam measurements and then compare them against those of your own doll. Then make any needed adjustments for a good fit. The only 1/4 scale fellas I have are the MiroDoll newer 1/4 male body and the Tonner “Matt” bodied guys (I have a Tonner Peter Pevensie as well, but he’s on the bigger size when it comes to MSD averages), so I’m not sure how the pattern would fit other brands. In any event, I hope it’s helpful to have this ready in a smaller version to save you all a bit of work. Enjoy and happy sewing!

Twelve Gifts of Christmas 2023 #1

Hello, hello, and Happy December, dear Internet~Land! It is once again that festive time of year, and I’m excited to share what I have planned for the 2023 Christmas Season. As many of you know, our household has been big BTS fans for years, and we are very proud to be ARMY. Now, though not all of you would jump into the BTS fandom, you’ll have to admit that their fashion is fire! Jungkook just finished his solo album promotions with a concert in Seoul. Once again, seeing his outfit led to a new BJD pattern set. The highlight of this set is definitely the pair of “armadillo style” jeans. This wonderful multi-layered garment is perfectly accented by a simple white T-shirt and a sleekly lined black leather jacket. Today’s gift is the third scale version of the pattern. It was drafted from the Basic Set for a slim 66cm male MiroDoll body. To make assembly easier, the pattern has a facing (or anchor) piece for the front and back of the jeans to which all the layered sections are sewn. By transferring the hem and seam lines onto this piece (cut from a very thin fabric), it gives a sort of “map” to make sure all the pieces fit as designed. Enjoy, and Happy Sewing!

Saying “Hello” to a New Addition

A new gal arrived in the mail. Let’s take a look at Angell Studio Jing! Angell Studio produces my very FAVORITE female sculpts! I watched this gal online for quite a while, and then made the plunge to purchase her. I’d never seen an Angell Studio girl in grey resin before. Photos from the ebay listing and company site are posted below the video link for a better look.

Some Sew & Chat Catch~Up

Hello, dear Internet~Land! Today I wanted to get this video posted for some cozy, casual sewing time. Many of my videos are very heavy into the tutorial style, but this is just spending time together for a visit. When I started filming, I had five of the seven outfits finished. We’ll take a closer look at those in the beginning of the video; then at the end we’ll see how the last two turned out. I’ve started working on redrawing this collection as a complete pattern set and am planning on its release during “The Twelve Gifts of Christmas 2023.” In the meantime, here’s wishing you a wonderful weekend!

A Fun Bit of Chaos

Hello, dear friends of Internet~Land! I’ve had a most productive month. ALL my BTS Idol outfits for my SD (1/3 scale) size fellas are complete and ready for the dolls shows. I’m so pleased with how they turned out. THEN – I was able to find and purchase a long-time-grail item from a very kind seller on Ebay! Below is a link to the unboxing of a dream item as well as a photo (below the link) of all my fellas in their new fashions. This weekend I worked a full day of overtime, so I’m using the rest of it to catch up on some needed rest. For those who are located here in the US Pacific Northwest ~ here’s hoping to see you at one (or both) of the shows. I will add show details at the bottom of this post. Enjoy!

Finishing the Rainbow High Tuxedo and Starting the BTS BJD Hanbok Collection

Greetings, dear Internet~Land! Wow! I have been busy and actually pretty productive, in spite of having to use several days to take care of automobile troubles and repairs. Even with that using most of my day, I was able to get a new video posted finishing up the sewing on our black and yellow Rainbow High Tuxedo & Gown Set. Though it was my first time sewing for these dolls, I’m pleased the pieces turned out well. With those two outfits being close to finished, I had also started a new and ambitious project. I’m going to make the SEVEN “Idol” 2018 MMA Performance Hanbok Sets for my BTS SD size BJDs! I’m very happy to report that four of the seven outfits are complete, and I will show them (for any who have not already seen them) at the end of the video which is linked below.

As a part of this project, I am also working on completing a finished pattern set of the entire collection. Some pieces were selected from previously posted sets, and some were designed as new additions. I think it will be available as our introduction to the “2023 Twelve Gifts of Christmas” this Holiday season!

New Additions for my BTS BJD Set

Greetings, dear Internet~Land, I hope the summer is going well for you. Personally, the heat is not my favorite, but I’m still able to get a few things accomplished. Yesterday I worked at cleaning out a bunch of stuff from my garage so we could move shelving and investigate possible water pipe damage. Thankfully, no major issues, but in the process of cleaning I think I came into contact with something toxic. The weather was super hot, so whatever was on the back of my wrists was transferred to my forehead and neck as I wiped away perspiration. Then this morning I woke up with my face all swollen and broken out. I have quite a startling appearance, so I’m glad I finished filming BEFORE I worked in the garage! Hopefully it will all clear up between today and tomorrow, because I need to take my mom up to Portland on Monday. Don’t really want to go out into the public at present!

In the meantime, I thought I would share this video showing three new BJD sculpt additions to my 1/3 (SD) scale BTS group. Now I’ll just be on the lookout for a sculpt that could work as a look-a-like for our dear J Hope. Enjoy!

Rainbow High Tuxedo Supplement Pieces

Hello, hello, Internet~Land! Today I have some additional pattern pieces ready for you. In this video, we sewed together the Rainbow/Shadow High Tuxedo Dress Shirt for the fella and the Gown pieces for the girl. I mentioned in the video that the pleated version I was trying wasn’t in the original pattern, and I did get some requests to have that piece available. I also noted that I thought the shirt turned out a big snug once it was done. This supplemental pattern set will include the pleated front for the original fit as well as all the pieces for both a regular and pleated front of a REVISED larger fitting shirt. The larger version also has two collar options. I will place both the complete Tuxedo Set, Gown Set, and the supplemental set below. Enjoy and Happy Sewing!

Let’s Sew a New Short Jacket Pattern!

Hello, my dear Internet~Land. I hope you are well on this fine Friday afternoon ~ or whichever day in which you are existing. I recently worked on revising this Short Jacket Pattern for third scale (SD) sized BJD girls. My original draft was a bit smaller, and I wanted a pattern to fit my Angel Studio HuaRong. She is a bit bustier, has a larger waist, and longer arms than my other dolls. Here is the result of my efforts. I hope you enjoy this pattern for your own creative ventures. The pattern PDF link will be placed below the video link, above the pattern image. Enjoy!
