A Smart Doll Pear Has Joined our Home!

Hello, hello, dear Internet~Land! As some may have seen on my facebook page, we had a lovely time at the Resin Rose BJD Expo. Then it was back to work, only to catch a nasty respiratory virus ~ and what a virus it was! I spent a full seven days fighting a fever, along with a constant cough and fatigued, sore muscles. It was no fun at all to be at home, but not well enough to do anything I would really want to do. I’m finally feeling a little better, so decided to draw up a Basic Pattern Set for a new addition to our household. My daughter took her first step into the BJD/Dolly community by purchasing a Pear shape Smart Doll! She’s absolutely lovely! When we got home, we looked through my clothing bin and were happy to find several items that would fit this beautiful girl, but we also wanted to draft some items made especially for her. If you also have one of these wonderful dolls, or perhaps another with a similar shape, hopefully this pattern set will help as you create her wardrobe. The pattern will be linked & shown below the other photos.

Just a quick edited reminder: These Basic Pattern Sets are designed to help as you draft your own clothing patterns. They are not meant to be sewn “as is.” Added width and length is needed for shape and fit, as well as extra width to create needed overlap for desired closures. These pieces come directly from the doll as shown in the photos, and if sewn as they appear, would only produce a tight fitting bodysuit. You will need to add your own special tailoring to create actual, wearable garments. Enjoy & Happy Sewing!

My pleasure! Yes, this dolly was a perfect match for my daughter! Just a note about the pattern ~ remember, the Basic Sets are designed to help draft your own garments. If sewn “as is,” they will only produce a tight body suit. Actual garments need to be drawn out adding extra sizing for shape and fit as well as additional width for desired closure overlaps. All the best & happy designing!

    Thank you. Thank you!

I have both Classic and Pear Smart Dolls. As you may know, there are lots of patterns for Classic; few (but growing number of patterns) for Pear.

This is a wonderful gift. Thank you.

I hope your daughter has much fun with her Pear. The dolls are a lovely size. So much easier to sew for. I love them for their size but also for their weight. I just got tired of my big resin BJDs because they were so heavy. Especially my Stella by Connie Lowe. I have kept my three Little Stella dolls (12 inch).

Just have a question: I thought I remembered reading or hearing you say in one of your You Tube videos that the basic pattern did not have any ‘ease’. Yet, I see a seam allowance on the patterns. I know….. I should just cut one out and sew it. The short answer to my question.

But asking anyway Will patterns fit as is?

However, I also just wanted to e-mail to chat a bit too.

Happy you are feeling a bit better. Get even better soon. Thank you again for this gift.

    Dolly Hugs,

Hello! You remember correctly ~ if these are sewn “as is,” they’ll only produce a really tight bodysuit. I just include the seam allowance as a reminder to add it. I suppose they’re pretty close to usable if you’re planning on making swimwear or underwear that would need to be very close fitting.
They are beautiful dolls. I’m very tempted and am watching some on ebay & Facebook. Not sure if I’ll take the plunge, since I recently added two more resins and a classic style Tonner. I need to stop! 😄 Wishing you all the best! ❤️
