Let’s Design SLEEVES!

Hello, my dear ones in Internet~Land. It’s been a while, so I hope you are well and happy. My world has been busy and changing. Some of you may already know that last September we lost our dad. After a very, VERY long “covid” winter, my mom made the decision to sell their property out in the country. It’s been her home for nearly fifty years, and was a wonderful place for my sisters and me to grow up. We have now moved her completely out and are preparing to move her into a brand new home in town. I must say, it was a very surreal experience to drive away, down that long gravel lane for the last time. We’ve also still been working lots of overtime ~ which I suppose is a good sign, in spite of how tiring it is.

With all this going on, I have been away from our little corner of the internet here at missysimaginings. I wanted to check in with you to say “hello” and send a little inspiration your way. I recently posted a SNIPPET video for creating sleeves on your dolly projects. I will post that below along with a free PDF that contains the “cleaned up” images we discussed in the tutorial. You can choose to use them as brainstorm ideas or as actual pattern pieces ~ whichever is most helpful. I’ll also post an image that shows all the pages in the PDF below the video link. Please take care of yourself this week and know that I appreciate you so much! Wishing you a great day, and as always ~ Happy Sewing!

A Pattern “Up-Grade” for Bobobie Apollo

Hello, hello, Internet~Land! Recently, I made a purchase of a Distant Memory Jaeii head, but not a DM body. Instead, I currently have him on a Bobobie Apollo body, and have actually ordered a standard 1/3 body from Resinsoul (due to arrive some time in July). While waiting for his new body to arrive, I was looking at a suit I made for Apollo, and I think it needs to be revised. The fit is a little more snug than I would like. Soooooo ~ I have added pleats to the pants, did a general “enlargement” for a looser fit, and changed up the two-tone design on the jacket sleeves. Here’s the new version, and I hope it will work for the Resinsoul when he arrives! Enjoy!

Choosing Fabrics for the Mori Style Set

Hello, hello, Internet~Land! This week, I am continuing with the Mori Fashion design for the SD BJDs. In this video I talk about how to assemble some of the pattern pieces and what I look for when choosing fabrics for this type of style. I also mentioned that I’d be happy to post the picture I sketched out in order to fill in different color combinations, so I linked the PDF below. I hope it’s helpful as you plan your project!

A New BJD Clothing Style

Hello, dear ones in Internet~Land! Today’s post features as new SD (1/3 scale) size BJD Pattern Set in the Japanese Mori fashion style. I heard about this look, and wanted to check it out. When I saw what it was, I just fell in love! It reminds me of a “vintage, less fitted, softer, shabby~chic” version of the old Gunne Sax style we had when I was a young teen. MUCH more comfortable, though! Well, after looking over lots of inspirational pictures, I decided to draft up a pattern set for my Angell Studio Hua Rong BJD. Here are the results of my efforts. I’m posting this right away, because I hope you’ll be as excited to try it out as I am! I’ll be sure to post pictures when my set is complete. Wishing you all the best ~ Happy Sewing!

Enjoy the Moment

Hello, dear Internet~Land. Earlier this week while I was driving home from work, I rounded a corner, looked into the sky, and saw something in the clouds that was amazing. Now, often when I see something cool like this (like the cool noctilucent clouds I’ll show below), I grab my phone and snap a photo. On this particular day however, I thought, no ~ I just want to enjoy this. Directly above me, the clouds formed two gigantic humpback whales gently gliding across the lower sky. What was amazing is that they pretty much kept their shape until I was directly underneath them. It was so serene. Wide spreading fields on either side, a straight road with unusually little traffic, and the Coast Range in the distance ahead. It was beautiful. So I just enjoyed it. I just rested in the moment and allowed it to surround me. I hope you can find some time like that this week. I hope you will be able to enjoy a beautiful moment and let it envelope you for just a little while. In this busy life of non-stop comings and goings, I think I need to look for more times like this. It was so peaceful and quiet. My brain was able to pause for a bit. It’s like everything just slowed down for a few minutes. I hope you can find that peaceful moment for yourself this week.

Ellowyne & MSD Ready for Rain

Those common “May Showers” won’t dampen your dolly’s spirits with this cute little Raincoat Pattern! I’ve been thinking of this design for quite a while and finally got it all finished for you. I just love a clear raincoat, and decided it was time to get one together for our dear Ellowyne and her MSD size friends. Now you can download your free copy of the pattern and sew along with me as we put it together. Happy Spring and Happy Sewing!

Finishing the Yellow Coat Outfit

Greetings, all you fine folks in Internet~Land! I know it’s been a bit sparce on here as of late. Long hours at work and life events have had me a bit preoccupied, and my limited free time has been used for rest. But, hey ~ I got all my information to my tax guy BEFORE the deadline. That’s certain to count for some good points! I’ve also finished up the last pieces of the Ellowyne Ruffle Hem Coat Set. All in all, I guess it’s ok. Now I think I will try some grey faux leather boots to use with the granite-look high heel soles. I’ll be sure to keep you posted as to how they turn out. I’m also putting together a new raincoat pattern for Ellowyne/MSD size dolls. I know the 1/4 scale dolls have had a bit more attention, but I thought they needed it, since I have spent so much more time on the 1/3 scale sizes. It seemed like the smaller ones were a bit neglected. Hopefully our MSD friends are feeling more loved! Well, I guess I’ve been rambling long enough ~ so now for the video! (I’ll post the new raincoat pattern soon)

A New Experiment in Shoes

Hello, hello, Internet~Land! My goodness, it’s been a little while, hasn’t it? Well, sometimes life is just that way. Be assured, I am well, and have been navigating what life sends my way. The last project I posted was a lovely little coat for the Tonner Wilde Imagination Ellowyne. Now I’ve been working on making some shoe soles, so I can try making the cute black boots that go with the look. I haven’t done a lot of sculpting, but still, this was a fun project to try. I hope the video will be helpful if you decide to give it a go as well. Enjoy!

The New Kimono and Drafting a New Coat

Hello, my Internet~Land friends! I’ve had some fun sewing the kimono pattern for my Hua Rong by Angell Studio! I am so happy with how the set turned out, and thought I’d share some of the pattern details with you. In this video (linked below) I mention some previous tutorials, and I’ve linked those two other videos in the description of this one in case you’d like to see the actual sewing steps for the kimono and gown. The actual project in the video is drafting a pattern of a cute little coat set for the Tonner/Wilde Imagination Ellowyne Wilde. I’m adding the link for this new set below the video. Here’s wishing you a wonderful week of creativity!

Two New Basic Patterns for Tonner Fellas

Greetings & salutations, Internet~Land! Here’s sending love, prayers, and good karma for your week to improve continually. In the midst of all the craziness in the world, I would never be foolish enough to think everyone is doing great, or can begin doing so with just a word, but I do believe that good words can mean a lot and can give encouragement to keep on keepin’ on! So, in the spirit of making things better a little bit at a time, I have TWO new Basic Pattern Sets for you. A lovely member of our happy internet community was asking me about patterns for the Iplehouse FID male BJDs. As I don’t have any of those fellas, I took a look at who I do have, and those are three of the Tonner/Wilde Imagination male body types. I have the Matt body, the Peter/Mortimer body, and the Super Hero body. I have put together a stats chart so you can compare the sizes of these to any guys you might have and see if they might be similar. I already have several patterns posted for Matt, but not the other two, so today we’re changing that.

I will link info for you in the following order: 1st ~ the size/measurements comparison chart; 2nd ~ the new video link; 3rd ~ the PDF links to the two new patterns; 4th ~ the images of the new pattern sets, so you can see the pieces included. And there you go! I hope you can find some joy and a bit of relaxation this week. Happy creating!
